Strasbourg is nice place to make one day trip.
Lets go to the travel plan.
Take ICE train to Offenburg which will cost you only 73.5 Euros for two person if you travel with a 25 Bahn card and book ticket with savings fare. We thought to make it very cost effective by buying the Bahn card.
Take train ICE 271 to Interlaken and get down at Offenburg. It take only two hrs to reach Offenburg. Dep: 5:38 and arrive at Offenburg by 7:28 less than 2 hours traveling.
But for our great surprise train got cancelled and so we took the next ICE 5 train going to Zurich and get down at Offenburg.
Purchase Euro Pass family 24hr which will cost around 12.75 Euros. This is valid for the train to Strasbourg and you can use the same pass for one day travel in Strasbourg for all trams for two person.
Be careful you will have only 7 mins when you get down at offenburg to catch Strasbourg train so make it fast in getting the ticket from ticket machine . You can choose the option easily from ticket machine.
It takes half a hour journey to reach Strasbourg. A river is separating Offenburg and Strasbourg.
Visit tourist information and get all your maps. If you have luggage then you can drop it at baggage counter. It cost arond 5 Euros for 24 hours. However you should go before 9:00 PM to collect it back.
There is option to get Strasbourg Pass which is cost around 14,90 Euros which include boat ride and some museums with concession in ticket fare. We didn't took it because we were not interested in visiting museums.
Get down at station and take the tram to reach Cathedrale of Notre-Dame.No need purchase any tickets as Euro pass family will cover for two adults for one day.
You can take tram A or D to reach near Cathedrale.
